Alpha Chi History
Alpha Chi Omega is a national women's organization that enriches the lives of members through lifetime opportunities for friendship, leadership, learning and service. The sorority was founded by seven visionary women on October 15, 1885 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
Today Alpha Chi is one of the strongest organizations in the United States with more than:

The lyre is Alpha Chi Omega's symbol, reflecting our strong history and heritage in music and the arts.
Our Open Motto
Alpha Chi Omega’s open motto is:
“Together let us seek the heights.”
Our Colors
Alpha Chi Omega’s colors of scarlet and olive green were chosen to commemorate the Fraternity’s autumn founding in Greencastle, Indiana.
Our Flower
The Alpha Chi Omega flower is the red carnation, exemplifying the Fraternity’s colors.
Our Badge:
A Greek lyre of gold, having three twisted strings spanned diagonally by a raised and slightly rounded scroll of black enamel bearing the Greek letters "Alpha Chi Omega" in gold. Our badge was voted the most beautiful Greek badge and is on display at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
